GTM containers will automatically load a Google Tag from April 2025
Starting April 10, 2025, GTM containers with Google Ads and Floodlight tags will automatically load a Google Tag first, before sending events. This small change improves the reliability of your Google Ads tracking.
Key benefits:
- Seamless feature access: Easily enable Enhanced Conversions, Cross-domain tracking and Autoevents directly from your Google tag settings page.
- Enhanced data collection: If you have accepted Google’s Customer Data Terms of Service, User Provided Data collection will be automatically activated across your events. Your Google Tag settings will now apply uniformly to events sent via Tag Manager and in-page code.
What you need to do:
Add the Google Tag to your GTM container to preview how these changes will affect your accounts. If no action is taken, the update will be applied automatically on April 10, 2025.
For many users, this update will increase the volume of measurement data without harming measurement performance.
